Meg Foster
We're happy to announce the return of Meg Foster to the gallery. This inspiring Norfolk artist never fails to excite and always manages to draws out the emotion in whatever she creates.
‘I always see cliffs as a place of hope and expectation, a place of envisioning the future free from some of the encumbrances of the past and of anticipation of fulfilment.’ All my work is a journey through North Norfolk of time, emotion, expectation and landscape.
Meg has studied and researched many techniques over many years of studying and experimentation. Meg now paints onto layers pure Italian plaster which has been traditionally dyed using earth pigments. It is a beautiful luminous ground traditionally used for Italian fresco paintings. The plaster is layered onto handmade Birch Ply panels.
Megs paintings uses techniques including both cold and hot wax. The cold wax is a combination of waxes and resin and blurs the line between traditional encaustic and oil painting. It is seductive and not limited to one particular genre nor the degree of abstraction or realism. "I love it; mixing my palette, building layers, subtracting and creating texture as I compose my paintings. I find that these two techniques combined enable me to express myself in a way that truly communicates my art and creativity. "
‘’Painting is my way of life; without it there is no story or dream, no poetry or moment’’
