From oyster, mussel and crab fisherman to reed cutters and farm hands, Jane Hodgson paints what she sees, which is usually outside as she follows her subjects as they work.
For the past year, Jane has been working hard towards this solo exhibition; with new work including livestock from the farms she visits, this much anticipated exhibition is bound to be very popular. As an artist who prefers to paint from sketch, Jane goes above and beyond to ‘catch the moment’ on canvas, often working through inclement weather working hard to keep the surface she’s working on from taking off with the wind. While most of the sketchwork and working drawings are made in the field, she then returns to the studio to work up the sketches.
As well as the original oil paintings, we will be showing a new collection of signed, limited editioned giclee prints.
Copies of Jane’s beautiful, limited edition hardback book, Working North Norfolk will be for sale throughout the exhibition and also available through our sister company’s online shop Red Hare Publishing
