Robert Gillmor Royal Mail
Robert Gillmor (1936-2022) is one of Britain’s most influential wildlife artists. He was commissioned in 2011 by Royal Mail to illustrate a set of Post & Go Birds of Britain stamps. He then went for the next 3 years to complete a total of 46 stamps designs. Royal Mail gave Robert permission to sell his original linocuts for the stamp designs, with a share of his profits going to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
They are: Birds of Britain I, II, III and IV, (36 designs) Farm Animals: Sheep, Cattle & Pigs (18 designs) and Winter Fur and Feathers (4 designs).
Known affectionately as the grandfather of wildlife art, In 2015 Robert was awarded an MBE for services to wildlife art (Including founder member of the prestigious Society of Wildlife Artists). He is one of the UK’s most popular wildlife artists; creator of the RSPB logo, cover artist for Collins’ long-running, flagship New Naturalist series and much more. In the last 12 years Robert has produced 33 Collins New Naturalist covers, 30 gallery editions, 23 jackets etc and 46 stamp designs.
