About the Stone:
Ancaster Weatherbed Limestone is quarried in Ancaster, Lincolnshire. A very hard, medium to course grained oolitic limestone from the middle Jurassic age. It is primarily buff in colour with occasional grey/blue inclusions and contains many shell fossils. The stone can be polished, honed or simply sanded and is durable for sculpture displayed outdoors.
Viking Bird is blue/grey in colour, but with a tiny patch of buff on top.
