About the stone:

Cornish Soapstone is known as Polyphant from the village where it is quarried in east Cornwall. This soapstone is an igneous rock made up of talc, chlorite and various carbonates, meaning the stone is quite soft, but a superb medium for carving and will give a lustrous polish. Dark grey/green colours are usual, often speckled with reds, browns and whites. The stone also has fascinating areas of white veining.

For indoor sculpture.

Swala has white veining on tail tip.
